Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, cost accounting, and internal controls for the organization. This role ensures the accuracy of financial statements, supports operational decision-making, and maintains compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The Controller will work closely with leadership to drive financial performance and efficiency. Will be part of the management team to support overall enterprise activities, working towards a shared pursuit in earned profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure timely and accurate closing of accounting periods
- Maintain general ledger integrity and chart of accounts
- Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Support
- Manage standard costing, cost models, and inventory valuation using Contribution Model Accounting principles
- Analyze production costs, labor, and overhead variances
- Monitor and maintain cost accounting systems (ERP/Plex experience preferred)
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations
- Coordinate year-end work for tax filing and compliance prep with established external accounting firms
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff (AR/AP)
- Collaborate with executive team on strategic initiatives and financial decisions
- Support Plex ERP system optimization
- Develop and maintain proper department workflows
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7–10+ years of accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Experience with financial reporting and month-end close
- Background in manufacturing or cost accounting
Preferred
- CPA or CMA certification
- Experience with Plex ERP or similar manufacturing systems
- Strong understanding of standard costing and inventory control
- Audit experience
- Experience or understanding of HR benefits management
